First trip to the E.R.

Well, it might not seem monumental, but we just had our first trip to the E.R.!  Why that is monumental, you ask? Well, if you know our two boys, that is not a small feat.  It really is quite miraculous that neither of them have broken a bone yet (knock on wood).

So, this is how it happened...We had friends over for dinner and only about 10 minutes into it, the kids thought it would be good idea to jump off the top bunk.  Yeah, so you can probably guess what happened next.  Carson jumps off and slams his head into the back of the ladder!  There was definitely some tears involved, and lots of blood (it always looks a lot worse than it is at first).  Eric tried to use some sterile strips to close the wound, so we could get through dinner, but then eventually we ended up taking him to the E.R. because those head wounds bleed and his cut was pretty deep.

I'm just glad there wasn't a broken bone and his injury just required staples!  Carson was quite brave though and thought he was pretty cool for having staples in his noggin. :)

36!

My birthday happened to fall on Martin Luther King's holiday this year, so we decided to get out above the yucky inversion and head to the slopes with some friends!  Sure enough it was beautiful up there above the clouds and temps were warmer too!

Skiing with these crazies was a blast!  They both did so good.  We missed Eric though!!

Dinner with the fam on my birthday was also a treat!

The next night, some of my girlfriends took me to dinner.  I am one blessed girl!

Best buddies

I love this photo so much.  It captures the love for our dog from our boys so perfectly.  We had a couple of days of beautiful weather, so we took advantage of it and went to the park.  After Carson was done playing, he plopped down on Tucker and enjoyed the sunshine!

While we were sitting there, Carson took my phone and was taking pictures with it.  He shot this picture of me that is pretty cool with the sun beams behind me!  Budding photographer??

New Years in CA Part 2

Part 2 of our trip to CA continues...

We had a fun date night in SF with Jen and Matt on New Years Eve!  Between watching a bunch of interesting characters dressed in the most scandalous clothing choices and drinking a little too much, and then our ice skating moves, we had a lot of good laughs that night!

The second half of the week was a little more chill after Jen and Matt went back home.  We went to a couple of movies, the boys worked in the workshop with Grandpa one day and on our last day we went down to Carmel and hiked around Point Lobos, and then took a scenic drive down to Big Sur and ended the day at the beach!!  It was so beautiful.

New Years in CA Part 1

We spent the week of New Years in CA with my family.  Fun times!  It was nice to have Christmas out of the way and just spend some quality, easy-going time with the Whites!  We missed Trish (she came the weekend before), but enjoyed having time with Matt, Jen and Gwen and my parents.  The best part?  The weather!  It was gorgeous the entire time we were there!

Here are some highlights:

Our second attempt for family pics.  We got some OK ones (the one above is probably my fave).  Trish wasn't there, but we are going to photo-shop her in the group photos.

We spent an afternoon at the Discovery Museum in Sausalito.  The kids had a blast!

This structure is made out of twigs and branches!  So cool!

I couldn't get Carson out of the ship.  He wanted to be Captain!

Giant Redwood tree.

Playing with magnetic sand.  They could've done this for hours.

Why can't our kids take a normal picture?!

These two Minions got these sweet glasses from Grandma and Grandpa.

Carson got a robot dog, Zoomer, for Christmas from Grandma and Grandpa.  Smart dog!

We went to Santa Cruz one day to the monarch butterfly trees and to go to the boardwalk.  Didn't see many butterflies, but saw some amazing views along the coast!  And the weather was 70 degrees which is heavenly in the winter, coming from Idaho!

Gotta take a silly selfie on the flying swings, of course! (Carson wouldn't cooperate with me.)

Sure, it ain't Disneyland, but it was still FUN!  Love Austin's grin here.

So, this one time we drove to Tiburon in Marin to rent bikes and catch the ferry to Angel Island to bike around the island.  And the ferry wasn't operating on New Years Eve.  Yeah, that was a bummer, but we still made the best out of it and biked around Tiburon/Belvedere!  We had another gorgeous day of sunshine and warm temperatures which made for perfect biking weather!

The houses with this view were incredible.  If only, I could win the lottery. ;)

These two got cozy in the bike trailer all day. So cute!

Throwing rocks in the water is always a highlight for these two...

My favorite shot of the day.  So picture perfect!
