Christmas 2007

It was a crazy week with the McEvoys in Logan, UT this year-all 35+ of them! Unfortunately Eric could only spend Christmas day and the following weekend there because he had to work, which was such a bummer, but Austin and I had a lot of fun with everyone nevertheless! Austin most certainly enjoyed being around all his cousins, especially Ethan, who would frequently wrestle and box with him! Christmas day was spent at Grandpa Mac's house and as always, was complete caosis with everyone there in the evening for dinner, present exchange, and a Christmas program! Other highlights of the week included sledding and bowling (Austin's first experience-which was a riot!).

Dad's little helper

Austin loves helping dad with anything that involve tools or "man toys" and since there were several projects to be done when we moved into the house, he has been Eric's little shadow. They fixed our dryer, put up the satellite, raked leaves, etc. I had to take a few photos of this because it's so cute how much Austin loves helping his dad and how excited he gets when he gets to use tools! What was funny about the pictures (and not planned) was that they were even dressed alike! How fun it will be for Eric to have two little helpers soon!

Our Christmas Tree

Eric and I have majorly slacked on getting a Christmas tree the last few years, probably because we have yet to spend Christmas at home (we're always in UT or CA for a couple of weeks), but let's face it, mostly we have been lazy! This year, despite all the craziness in moving to Boise and all, I decided we must cave in and end our drought of not having a tree! I really just wanted to get one for Austin since he's now at the age to understand the whole Christmas concept, and putting a tree up and decorating it would be exciting for him. So, we dusted off our very small and pathetic collection of decorations and hung them up on our tree. Austin, of course loved every minute of it, and luckily didn't break anything! We still won't be here for Christmas, but I guess it's good to get in the whole Christmas spirit, right?!

Santa visit

We did a little Christmas shopping at the mall today and of course, Austin spotted Santa right away and wanted to go see him. I wasn't planning on doing the whole "Santa picture" right then and there, but he kept bugging me about it, so I gave in (plus there was hardly a line). Austin was so excited to see him and sit on his lap (which we had talked about for weeks), but by the time we got up there, he said "Santa is a big and scary man, Mom" as he clinged to my leg! I couldn't get him off my leg or excited about the idea of even talking to Santa! (Which is strange because the kid will talk to anyone!) Santa saw that this wasn't going to work so he suggested that I sit on the bench next to his chair with Austin on my knee (slightly away from me), while he left and came back around the other side and sat down behind Austin while Austin wasn't looking. So, the picture is an illusion because Austin didn't actually sit on his lap! He did, however, barely squeak out a smile and the picture turned out pretty funny! Afterwords, Austin said, "Santa is kinda sneaky" and I just had to crack up! Anyways, hopefully next year will be better!

Baby #2 update

I went to my new doctor yesterday to check on the baby, and the little fella is doing great! The doctor said he's very active (I know, big shocker!) and estimated that he will be probably be bigger than Austin was (Austin was 9 lbs 5 oz)! Of course, I then asked him how he felt about inducing me a week or two early (I'm not too fond of the idea of having a 10 lb. baby to be honest!) and he said most definitley. WHEEWWW! Let's hope he's not just getting my hopes up! Of course, it will depend on how things are progressing at that point and if the baby is in the right position, but let's keep our fingers crossed! I'll take a week or two off the due date! Anyways, I scanned some pictures of this little guy -he looks just like Austin did!

We have arrived...

Wow, what an exhausting two weeks it's been for our family. Eric came home on Thanksgiving morning, we ate dinner with my family (to which I took no pictures, dang it!) and packed most of the day. Friday we picked up our truck, loaded it up (most of our stuff was in storage) and parted about 5pm. We stayed just outside Reno that night and made the rest of the trek the next day. What baffles me about this whole experience is that I swore I would never move during the winter again AND be pregnant during it! When we moved to Cincinnati 3 years ago, it was the nearly the same time of year and I was 4 1/2 months preggo. So this time I was a little farther along AND with a busy, destructive 2 1/2 year old! Don't I ever learn my lesson??? Luckily upon arrival, we had some help from Eric's dad and brother who made the 4 hour trek from Logan to help us move in, along with 2 members of our new ward. It went pretty fast, but the hard part has been unpacking and organizing everything of course! It's been nearly 2 weeks since we arrived to Boise, and I'm still not fully done! The relief though is that we're here finally, together as a family again, and starting to settle and learn our way around. We really love Boise so far (even though it's freezing here!) and I think it will be a fun place for us for awhile! No pictures of the inside our house yet, I want to wait until it's fully decorated, but we sure love our little home! (Did I mention the neighborhood is great??!!)
