Last October we were supposed to go on a family vacay with the McEvoy clan to Lake Powell. Well, that didn't pan out because the government shut down closed the national parks. So, we rescheduled for May! Unfortunately, not as many of the McEvoys could go, but we still had fun!
The trip didn't start out as planned. Brett's boat trailer broke down (broken axel on one of the wheels), and so that delayed things a bit. We actually had something go wrong every day! Between the houseboat having engine problems one day (we had to call the boat mechanic out to fix it), to running out of gas on one of the ski boats another day (and towing it a couple of hours), to ski boat engine problems too, we just had to laugh at all of our little mishaps!
Fortunately, the mishaps didn't spoil our fun! We had cooler weather the first two days (which meant not as much swimming and boating), but the last two days, perfect, warm weather! We enjoyed hiking Hole in the Rock, boating, waterskiing/wakeboarding/tubing, exploring and climbing rocks, playing on the beach in the sand, cliff jumping, and of course, nightly dinners together and campfires!
Austin was the first one in the water, of course, but didn't know that it would be freezing cold!
Cousins. What a bunch of cuties.
Can't complain when I'm in Lake Powell! Pure joy!
First night was a bit windy and chilly, so we all crammed inside the houseboat and took up all the floor space! Needless to say, the first night was not the best night sleep.
It was late and we were the last ones up, so it got a little silly. ;)
McKenna's signature face. She taught Grandpa to do it. So funny!
We can't be normal in a selfie. ;)
We had plenty of dance parties on the boats!
Carson's favorite thing to do was drive the boat, of course. With Uncle Brett. ;)
If they couldn't be ON the water in the raft, why not on the houseboat?!
Relaxin'
Full moon in the distance.
Panoramic of our nightly campfire. We sure had some funny stories and games. Carson had us in stitches!
Sleeping on top of the houseboat is always the best
One morning me and the kids went for a little hike. The water was so still and peaceful and the light was beautiful!
Can't get enough of the views of this lake. The rock cliffs are something else!
