We had a pirate birthday party for Austin and his friends at the park yesterday. It was a blast! We had the kids go on a treasure hunt around the park (which is a pirate playground-very fitting!) collecting things to become pirates and leading them to the treasure (a treasure chest pinata filled with candy). The kids started out with treasure maps and then collected pirate hats, eye patches, necklaces, tattoos, and gold coins. Amazingly enough, they all stayed together during the hunt too! The pinata broke after Austin's first swing (I would like to say it was because of his strong swing, but really the pinata was cheap and too heavy!), but the kids still made it worth it by getting a few swings on it while on the ground. Then it was like a pack of wolves attacking the candy!
We then had birthday cake and opened presents and then let the kids play at the park, most of them getting soaked in the water park area! Austin loved every minute of it and especially liked being the "Captain" (hence the hat)!!!

TREASURE!!! Breaking open the pinata!

Getting ready for some cake

My masterpiece... ok, not really, but I try!!!

Austin blowing out the candles (actually just pretending, since it was too windy to light them!)

Lookin' awfully cute in that silly hat
