You are my sunshine, Mom
Today Austin's preschool class had a fun, little activity planned for all the moms, called Mother's Tea. They do it every year and it's a nice, little way for moms to come see their children perform, eat brunch, and mingle. We sat at kid-size tables set up with pictures of our kids as place settings, cute hand-made paper floral centerpieces, and yummy food. First, all the kids went into the other classroom and got dressed up-boys in men's shirts and ties and girls with aprons. The kids came in, gave us hand-made necklaces that they made (that said "MOM"), and sat down in chairs in front of us. They then proceeded to take turns telling their own mom why they love us (with pictures they had drawn-or scribbled, in Austin's case). It was very cute and amusing. When it came to Austin's turn he said, "Mom, I love you because...you take me to the gym and the park." I had a few chuckles over that one, can you tell where we go a lot? :)
The highlight though was the kids singing, "You Are My Sunshine". The kids were so adorable holding up cut-out suns over their faces. They also sang a couple other songs. After the singing, the kids then served the moms with the food and then sat down next to their moms and ate with us. I can't believe Austin's first preschool year is coming to an end in a few weeks and that in only one short year, he'll be going to kindergarten!
