Halloween 2009

So, when did Halloween go from one day into a whole week? I swear, when we were kids you really only celebrated Halloween on the actual day by wearing your costume and going trick or treating. Now, there's school parties, church parties, friend parties, etc that prolong the holiday. But I'm not going to complain since it is a pretty fun holiday (besides all the candy which makes me sick) and the kids love it! This past week Austin had a school party in which he wore his costume, then the next day we had the ward "Trunk or Treat" (in which it snowed), then a birthday party for a friend, and finally on Halloween day our friends, Mo and Dave, had a neighborhood party/chili cook-off before trick or treating (which was awesome!-Mo totally blew it out of the water w/ the decor and food! Oh, and our chili ended up winning too!). By Saturday, Austin's costume was totally falling apart (cheap thing!).

Eric and I opted out of dressing up this year, and a lot of people from our ward were disappointed, so I guess that means we're going to have to do something GOOD next year (how can you top Dwight and Angela from The Office?). Kids had a blast though, loved all the candy, and looked cute in their costumes. Everyone thought Carson was a dinosaur, but what dinosaur has wings? He was a dragon, people! And a pretty cute one at that. This week was totally exhausting w/ all festivities, and I'm ready to throw all the candy in the garbage!
